Althaparro´s House
The Althaparro family house, located in 137 Arellano St., was built in 1940. Its façade is an exponent of the Functional Style, therefore designated as “Lugar Significativo”. The asymmetry as a expression of a free disposition as an expression of liberty in construction. This style is contemporary of the cubism and the neo-plastic painting.

Ancestral home where Juan Hipólito Vieytes was born
Mr. Juan Hipólito Vieytes, Clerk of the Primera Junta Grande de Gobierno (a Revolutionary Junta of Government) was born on August 13th of 1762 in the town of San Antonio de Areco. His dwelling was a simple house built in the Street Real, currently named Ruiz de Arellano Street, in front of the square that is also called as the founder. Vieytes lived here until he was 11 years old when his family decided to leave the town.

Belgrano Library
Elvira de la Sota and Adela Bertola founded the Belgrano Library in November 4th 1906.Since then it has always been women who formed the different commissions.
They first rented a room at Alsina St. between Gral. Paz and San Martín St., where the Jockey Club bar functioned later.
The high amount of readers’ assistance made necessary to rent two rooms at Arellano and General Paz St.
The final destination of this institution was 115 Arellano St. where it actually works.

Cruz Misional (Mission Cross)
It was located between Belgrano and Zerboni Street. This is the place where was settled the old altar of the priests who belonged to the Society of Jesus.

Parque Criollo (Creole Park) and Museo Gauchesco "Ricardo Güiraldes" Museum
The buildings of the Parque Criollo and Museum were built in an area of 90 hectares, outside the town, passing through the Puente Viejo (Old Bridge). It was founded and built by the Government of the Province. It was opened in 1938. It was named Ricardo Güiraldes in honour of the author’s novel “Don Segundo Sombra”. This institution has nine rooms (among them the pulpería “La Blanqueada” bar) which offer objects in exhibition that describe the Argentinean history in relation with the gaucho, his customs, traditions, life-style, and experiences of the typical aspects of the Buenos Aires’s countryside. Under Ricardo Güiraldes’ name, the Museum shows a lot of information about this famous writer’s personality and literature work.

Pulpería "La Blanqueada"
At around three hundred kilometres from the Puente Viejo (Old Bridge) is placed the pulpería (a traditional bar) “La Blanqueada”, a building which is 150 years old. It was built with bricks made with a half measure of lime supported with mud, baseboard, pilasters and cornices sticking out from the wall made in bricks. This is a characteristic of the architecture style of that time.
The facade Northeast shows a covered passage with a semicircular arch along the side of the building. From this place, the traveller was served through a grille on the bar. Inside the shop, entering through the lateral door, it was reserved for the priests known by the pulpero (barman). This place was used for eating and drinking, as well as for playing cards and chatting.

The Boliche (small Shop) de Bessonart
The Boliche de Bessonart Bar is located just in the corner of the streets Don Segundo Sombra and Zapiola, This place was used to buy meal and drinks, meet paisanos and countrymen who came the town to supply for food and business. Don Segundo Sombra “paraba” (stayed) there, the gaucho who became the character of the Ricardo Güiraldes’ novel.

The Burgueño’s House
This house is located in Belgrano Street between Alem and Alvear. This is a very old construction and it is estimated from 1804 to 1806. Built with bricks made with a half measure of lime supported with mud. Firstly, the roof was made of straw and then it was replaced with French ties.

The Casa Municipal (City Hall)
This building, located at Lavalle Street in front of the Ruiz de Arellano Square, was built in 1885.
It belonged to Laplacette Family until 1966, when the City Hall of San Antonio de Areco acquired it.

The Centro Cultural (Cultural Center) and The Usina Vieja (Old Electric Energy Factory) Museum
In the current building of the Cultural Center and the Usina Vieja Museum, which depend on the Cultural Department of the City; cultural acts, conferences, exhibitions and other similar activities are often performed.
In this building, the first usina (factory) of electric energy was established in 1901.

The Colombo’s old Printing
The printing was set at the Ruiz de Arellano Street for many years. Mr. Francisco A. Colombo founded it and the first issue of “Don Segundo Sombra” was printed there in 1926

The Emma Rojo’s House
This house built in the 40 decade with a colonial style belongs to Mrs. Emma Rojo, an old teacher from Areco.
Local craftsmen forged the iron fittings and the doors. The iron bars come from the old Fonda (Inn) of Egan, place to give lodging to country people.
The door of the bay window belonged to the first chapel built in 1728.

The English Priest’s House
This house is one of the fewer constructions which shows a rectal angle in its corner facade that still exists in the urban area. This house shows its antiquity with its terrace surrounded with bars and a room on the top used as a looking.

The Foita Mosetti’s House
In front of the Ruiz de Arellano square and next to the Popular Library Belgrano, it is located the house where lived until her death, Mrs. Foita Mosetti.

The Gasanegga’s House
The Gasanegga’s House, built by his owner, is a true sample of the neo-renaissance trend of the houses built during 1880 and 1890.

The Levantini Casco’s House
This type of houses is typical of the countrymen who had another house in the town. This house was used for lodging people for a temporary time in case of business, illnesses, etc.

The Martínez House
This house is located in front of the main square and at two blocks from the Areco River. It belonged to this family for many years because of their ancestral root in Areco.
The most outstanding characteristic from its colonial architecture is its first floor balcony surrounded by bars made according to its construction time.

The Mrs. Catalina Martinelli de Rojo’s House
This house has a great architecture value. It belonged to Mrs. Catalina Martinelli de Rojo, but his first owner had been Mr. José de Figueroa, the owner of the “Posta de Figueroa”.

The Mrs. Dolores Goñi de Güiraldes’ House
This distinguished lady was Ricardo Güiraldes’ mother. She was married with Mr. Manuel J. Güiraldes. When her husband died, she came back to live in her house in the town..

The old Casa Municipal (City Hall)
In this house, today occupied by the room of the Consejo Deliberante (City Council) and the offices related with artistic activities promoted by the City Hall, functioned the City Hall administration from 1865 to 1967. Previously, these lands were used as a cemetery.
