History
Its name belongs to the last name of the Capitan “don José
Vagues”, defender of our frontiers during the different periods/years
of military action.
Nearby, the Vagues Stream runs. This population located in the middle
of the countryside might not have grown enough as a consequence/because
of its nearness to the main city of the district. However, between
the 30th and 40th centuries, due to the rural activities and the
importance of the railway station (branch lines: Victoria –
Pergamino and Vagues – Luján), certain commercial activity
in 2 grocer’s stores and in forge labors could be appreciated.
Nowadays, the “Hogar San Camilo” represents the vital
point of this small town. The story begins in 1952 with a high school
construction which turned into a home for severely handicapped people
since 1978.
